Background
This is a significant service change for Mersey & West Lanc's NHS Trust. The proposal is to co‑locate adult and children’s A&E at a single hospital site at Southport Hospital as a combined adult and children's A&E, removing A&E provisions for Ormskirk Hospital and West Lancashire. The decision of the ICB flows directly from early design choices which shaped the range of options that were realistically available before public consultation began. No option of having A&E provisions at both sites.
