Abolish the requirement for spousal consent from the Gender Recognition Act 2004
Currently, the Gender Recognition Act requires married applicants to obtain a spouse’s consent or for the marriage to be ended to receive a full Gender Recognition Certificate. We believe this creates a spousal veto that can undermine individual autonomy and be used to delay legal recognition.
