No Limits Community Café and Hub closure
The petition of the residents of the Newton Abbot constituency,
Declares that the No Limits Community Café and Hub in Newton Abbot, Devon was a vital, inclusive space for disabled and neurodivergent people, providing community, support, and social connection; further declares that the No Limits Community Café and Hub was a beacon of hope, employing 18 local people and creating a warm, inclusive environment for its participants, staff, and visitors; it was a place where people who often face barriers to employment gained confidence, learnt valuable skills, and become part of a supportive community; notes the petition on Change.org on the same issue of closure of the No Limits Community Café and Hub in Newton Abbot, Devon that gathered 573 additional signatures.
The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urge the Government to protect existing community support hubs and ensure long-term resource allocation and recognition of their role in mental health, wellbeing, and inclusion.
And the petitioners remain, etc.—[Presented by Martin Wrigley, Official Report, 11 September 2025; Vol. 772, c. 1148.]
Observations from The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government (Miatta Fahnbulleh):
The Government appreciate the significant role that community spaces like the No Limits Community Café and Hub play in developing social networks, encouraging community participation and promoting civic pride. This is particularly true for disabled and neurodivergent people, for whom having access to timely and convenient work and health support is key. Local authorities maintain many of these services, and the majority of funding in the local government finance settlement is unringfenced, recognising that local leaders are best placed to identify local priorities.
We are committed to giving communities and businesses the support they need to thrive. We are going further than ever to empower communities to protect community assets, with the introduction of a new right to buy assets of community value through the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill. This will give communities a right of first refusal on the sale of registered buildings or land if they are put up for sale.
