Consultation on draft regulations for the control and management of ships’ ballast water and sediments

The draft merchant shipping (control and management of ships’ ballast water and sediments) regulations 2021 will implement the international convention for the control and management of ships’ ballast water and sediments into domestic law. The convention seeks to prevent the spread of invasive non-native species which are carried within ballast water and can cause damage to the marine environment, the economy and health.
