Implementing the new EU Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulation
Seeking views on implementing provisions of the new EU F-gases regulation and on the assessment of impact on business.
We want to know what you think about our plans to implement the main provisions of the EU Fluorinated Greenhouse Gas regulations in the UK. We also want your views on our assessment of the cost of the new domestic legislation on UK businesses.
Fluorinated gases (F-gases) are powerful greenhouse gases which were largely introduced as replacements to chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) which damage the ozone layer. They are used in refrigeration, air-conditioning, insulation foams, electrical equipment, aerosol sprays, medical inhalers, solvents and fire extinguishers.
The 2006 EU Regulation will be replaced by a new one, applying from January 2015, which will lead to an 80% cut in emissions by 2035.
