Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 - Shared Buildings Regulations

The Consultation seeks views on draft Regulations for registration of shared religious buildings for solemnization of marriages of same sex couples under the provisions of the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013. Many churches and religious groups share premises and the Regulations enable shared buildings to be registered subject to all sharing groups’ agreement. The draft Regulations deal with formal sharing agreements under the Sharing of Church Buildings Act 1969 and where buildings are shared informally. They deal with when buildings become shared, when they cease to be shared and when the sharing religious groups change.
