Animal welfare: reviewing animal establishments licensing in England

We want to know what you think about our plans to update the licensing system for animal establishments in England. This includes the licensing schemes for pet shops, animal boarding, riding schools and dog breeding.

We expect these changes to modernise the animal licensing system by reducing the administrative burden on local authorities. They will also simplify the application and inspection process for businesses, as well as maintain and improve existing animal welfare standards.
