Detail
We want to know what you think about plans to change what needs to be recorded in the holding register. This applies to keepers of bovine animals (cattle, bison and buffalo) in England.
We propose to remove the requirement to record the identification number of the dam (mother) of any bovine animal brought on to a holding. Breeders will still have to record the identification of the dam for calves born on their holding.
These changes will amend the Cattle Identification Regulations 2007. It will reduce the regulatory burden on industry. These changes are part of the government’s Red Tape Challenge.
