Legislative Reform Order
The FCO plans to amend the British Nationality Act and centralise its birth and death registration service.
This consultation sets out proposals to amend part of the British Nationality Act (BNA) 1981 to allow the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) to centralise its consular birth and death registration service from April 2014. We intend that the proposed changes to legislation are made by a Legislative Reform Order (LRO) made under the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006.
You are invited to comment through a public consultation. The purpose of the consultation is to set out the full proposals and seek your views on amendments to the BNA. The outcome of the consultation will assist the FCO in formulating the final proposal that will be put before Parliament.
