This consultation is about recommendations for improving the format and content of Work Programme official statistics publications.

Last fetched 03 May 2026 · gov.uk
Detail

This consultation sought views on recommendations to improve the content and presentation of Work Programme official statistics. The recommendations include:

  • improving how we show sustainment payment information
  • adding information on how many people complete the programme

Views were also requested on the overall presentation and content and the breakdowns available in the current official statistics. This is the first consultation on these proposals.

Sustainment payments

Organisations that provide Work Programme places can be paid a Job Outcome payment for a participant after 3 or 6 months of continuous spells in employment. Following a Job Outcome payment, sustainment payments are paid for every subsequent 4 week period in continuous employment. The maximum number of sustainment payments payable depends on the participant’s payment group, which is based on their individual circumstances.
