Non-formal consultation on proposed changes to BSE testing of cattle slaughtered for human consumption
Defra, the Food Standards Agency and the Welsh Assembly Government are consulting non-formally on (i) increasing the age threshold above which healthy cattle slaughtered for human consumption require testing for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), from 1 July 2011; and (ii) testing a sample of such cattle from 1 January 2013.
