General aviation: Air Navigation Order review
Consultation on the CAA's review of all aspects of the Air Navigation Order (ANO) that could impact on general aviation.
The Air Navigation Order (ANO) forms the legal foundation for almost all areas of civil aviation that are still regulated at national level.
We are undertaking a project with the Department for Transport to review all aspects of the ANO that could impact on a GA activity.
The review was initiated to ensure that:
- the ANO is compatible with our new approach to GA
- our approach to GA regulation is examined in a holistic manner
This consultation document is the output of the first phase of the review. It includes a package of broad concepts and options in a thematic format. It’s addressed primarily to the GA community, to gather views on the proposals.
Once comments have been received, the proposals will be refined and presented in a more detailed format for final consultation in autumn 2015. Implementation of the new ANO will take place in autumn 2016.
