Consultation on Exemptions to the Video Recordings Act and on Advertising in Cinemas
We want your views on changes to how videos and cinema advertising are classified.
This consultation seeks views on two matters: whether to make changes to the exemptions from classification set out in section 2 of the Video Recordings Act 1984 (“the VRA”) and whether to amend the Licensing Act 2003 to remove any requirement for the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) to have a role in age rating advertisements shown in cinemas.
This consultation will be of interest to a wide range of stakeholders including producers, publishers and distributors of content released as hard copy video recordings (DVDs, Blu-ray, VHS etc), advertising agencies, trade associations, cinema operators, retailers, classification bodies, enforcement agencies, consumer groups, children’s groups, parents and teachers.
