Detail

This consultation outlines proposals to harmonise vehicle registration and licensing services in Northern Ireland (NI) with those in Great Britain so that all customers benefit from the provision of the same modern electronic services.

These changes will give customers in NI greater choice and flexibility including:

  • the ability to tax vehicles online or by automated telephone service
  • access to more services at around 150 Post Office® branches across NI

The objective is to improve customer service and reduce the burden for businesses and customers when complying with the need to tax their vehicles.

You are encouraged to consider the Consultation document, Impact Assessments and the screening documents prepared in relation to Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.

The documents have been prepared on the information available at the time of publication and will be updated with any additional information provided during the consultation process. This is your chance to contribute to this consultation and make your views known.
