Waste assessment and classification

The way waste is assessed and classified in the UK changes significantly in June 2015.

This is a result of several changes to the law.

The changes include:

• amendments to the List of Waste (or European Waste Catalogue)
• a major revision of hazardous properties
• the adoption of the a new system of chemical classification

As a result, current UK guidance on waste classification needs to be updated.

On behalf of the joint agencies, we are asking for your comments on the changes we have made to our guidance.
