Seagoing ship owners: increases to liability limits

We seek your views on our proposals, and assessment of the impacts, from increasing the maritime liability limits and simplify existing maritime legislation.

Maritime liability limits are set out in the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims 1976, amended by the 1996 Protocol. They came into force internationally on 8 June 2015 and would take effect in the UK through secondary legislation.
