Government proposals to protect cultural heritage overseas
A consultation seeking views on government's proposals to protect cultural heritage overseas
This consultation was a targeted consultation aiming to seek views from individuals and organisations with experience and expertise in the area of cultural heritage protection on some specific working details of the Fund. This includes its geographical focus and technical details such as: the scope of items or sites to be protected; the scope of action; the types of programmes which would be eligible to bid for grants; and the size of grant funding.
The government announced on 25 November 2015 that the UK will provide international support for cultural heritage in global conflict zones, dedicating £30 million in Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) funding between 2016 and 2020 to a new Cultural Protection Fund.
